This is a Chelsea predicted lineup for their FA Cup clash with Championship side Leicester City. The Blues are coming into this one off the back of a win, hoping to return to Wembley by advancing to the semi-final stage.
Djordje Petrović has been the go-to option in the goal with Robert Sanchez deputising in the last FA Cup tie. The defense has been a case of playing who is available with all of Marc Cucurella, Ben Chilwell, Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill Axel Disasi, and Malo Gusto starting recently to cover the gaps.
Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez have been the preferred defensive midfield pivot for most of the season. Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer are almost undroppable as the central and right-sided attackers with Raheem Sterling playing on the left but being outshined by Mykhailo Mudryk in recent weeks.
Nicolas Jackson has been relied on as the sole striker with Armando Broja on loan and should continue there.
Mauricio Pochettino has been reliant on a fluid 4-2-3-1 all season long, a brief switch to a back three against Brentford aside. Due to the lack of defensive cavalry he abandoned the back three pretty quickly but we could see it come back with Benoit Badiashile fit again.
The Blues have lost just one in seven, that being the Carabao Cup Final to Liverpool. In that span, they have won four times with two draws. Scoring goals hasn’t been much of an issue lately with the team scoring eight times in their last three outings, what has been problematic is their defending as they have no clean sheet to their name in the last nine matches. They have notably only kept their opponents scoreless on three occasions in 2024.
Fernandez is suspended which is rough news as possible replacement Cesare Casadei is cup-tied for this competition. The latest injury update does clear Badiashile and Chilwell to return but rules out Colwill, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, and Lesley Ugochukwu.
